Vancouver College has completed upgrading their academic buildings on the school campus located at W. 38th Avenue and Cartier Street in Vancouver. They have addressed what the school president deemed the “Seismic Imperative” and replaced the existing buildings that date from the 1920’s with two new state of the art buildings. The two buildings deemed Phase 1A and Phase 1B were completed sequentially. Phase 1A (Manrell Hall) was completed in summer of 2018 and Phase 1B (Lannon Hall) was completed in summer 2020.
Manrell Hall is now home to a new dining hall, learning commons and classroom space for grades 7 to 9. Lannon Hall houses the K to 6 classes, elementary gym, elementary learning commons, chapel and administration spaces and includes the retention of the heritage façade from the original school building. Now completed, the two phases create a new quadrangle outlined by a covered walkway. The project also included extensive upgrades to the campus site services and upgraded communications infrastructure between the buildings.
Westbourne Projects Ltd. was retained as the owner’s representative after the school had completed the functional program for the new school spaces. We worked with the school and project team through all phases of design, permitting, construction, furniture acquisition and interior design coordination.
